USC Capstone Housing

I am an incoming freshman next year at South Carolina and I have been accepted into the Capstone program. I want to room there because everyone says the dorm is so much nicer. Is it? But my problem is that I have a roommate in mind and he is not a Capstone scholar. He keeps telling me that he knows that people can room in Capstone as long as they have a Capstone roommate because he knows people that have done it. On the website it just says that priority is given to Capstone members and some Non-Capstone rooms may be available. Does anyone know if I will be able to room with him? Is it a common thing to have Non-Capstone roommates or a rare thing? I really want to room with him, but I don't want to jip myself out of Capstone if he can't. Will they move us to our second choice dorm or give me a random roommate? I know this year they are doing housing by date of application to school, and I applied in October so I think that helps. He didn't apply until later though. Anyone know anything?

Go to University of South Carolina, Undergraduate Admissions | Facebook and you can ask the question there. They respond every day.

    Hope this helps!

I read on their facebook somewhere that non-Capstone members can room with Capstone members and that people in Capstone will still stay in Capstone.

I think it's pretty common. I heard there are basically two ways to get into Capstone Housing: a) be a Capstone Scholar or b) have a Capstone Roommate.

AUGirl is right. My daughter is in Capstone, and there are several people on her floor who are not Capstone scholars, but their roommates are. She said the higher the floor, the fewer Capstone members.

I don't know about the housing application date thing though. Daughter applied a day or two before the priority deadline and was placed in Capstone. But she was not requesting a specific roommate, so I don't know if that makes a difference.
