Mac vs. PC

In the School of Journalism and Mass Communications, which is the better laptop for the student? We are "used to" PC's, but I've heard an Apple computer might be preferred by the college (professors, students etc.). Is there more on campus support for Mac vs. PC? Thanks.

Depends on the major. For advertising go MAC.

When we went to orientation last year for the School of Journalism they told us to get a Mac. And that orientation covered the various majors within the school. FYI my D grew up on PC's but would never go back, she loves her Mac. Check out the Apple stores they had incredible deals last year, she basically got a printer and Itouch for free.

We bought the PC since we have always been a PC family, but our daughter determined this year that she really could use a mac to do the best in her field. We split the cost with her and she is giving me her hand-me-down pc so it worked out fine. If I had it to do over again I would get the mac if that is what the department recommends.

I have a Mac and am majoring in political science. If you think you will need to run Windows, you can just install it on an Apple Laptop

PC vs. MAC

It is dependent on the student's major. Business and Engineering are more PC based. It's probably not an issue until later into the program where applications are used for analysis on the students machine. If the major is known, I would suggest contacting the department's office and see if they have a recommendation.
