Gervais and Vine was a big hit! Nicely funky, comfy decor, good food, nice variety. They have bigger dishes and pizzas in addition to tapas, but we love eating that way..more things to try! We were able to accomodate a vegetarian in our group nicely there as well. They dont take reservations, so be prepared to wait (we just beat out a rush and didnt have a wait) they have outside seating as well.Nice wine and beer list.People came dressed all different ways so no worries if you are coming from elsewhere and think you might be "underdressed".
Adding this to my Columbia faves list...Motor Supply Bistro,Blue Marlin, and now this..
I dont think the Parents tailgate was worse than usual, just logistically its alot of walking, crowding, etc.I'd rather just go straight to the stadium next time.

We got back Tuesday night after spending Sun-Tues in Charleston, our first time there. it was wonderful and for those who have never been I highly recommend it.

PAmom, sorry we didn't connect; we need to try to have a drink (or two) in May during commencement, bringing things full circle.....

We pretty much spent the time like PAmom, just enjoying time with our D. Other than the Parent's Cocktail (which was also at the Convention Center- ours was downstairs) we had no formal plans. After the cocktail party we went back to the hotel to change clothes then also went to the Salty Nut with D and a number of her friends and their parents..it was quite the scene.

Prior to the Parents' cocktail party on Friday we had lunch with D at DiPratos (highly recommend) and then did some shopping at the shops and boutiques on Divine St.. Saturday we had a great lunch at Motor Supply and later explored some areas of Columbia we hadn't seen before. We opted to watch the game at one of the sports bars rather than attend which turned out to be a good decision since D was having some issues with her allergies and not feeling very well.

Sunday she and her best friend also drove over to Charleston and they spent the day with us before heading back to Columbia.

All in all, it was a really nice and relaxing weekend.

Hello Gamecock parents! eadad, cathymee, PA mom, et. al.,

It has been awhile since posting on the USC thread, but even though it is a bit early, I thought I would pose a question for you and/or your kids before they graduate and you all possibly move on from cc as well!

Our d loved South Carolina when we looked at it with her older brother. She feels that she wants to major in a history related field. Do you know how strong or what the reputation for USC's History or Historical Preservation Dept. is? It is funny how the second one starts talking about all of this earlier, or maybe it is a gender thing......
