Does one get admitted to the school/University or to the major? If one gets admitted to major, how comp. is it to get into Engineering School?

You are admitted to the University, not the major, although I've heard some rumblings from admissions about certain programs that may need to be admitted by major in the future.

You may be admitted to the major in some instances - for example, Exercise Science.
