Rice1961,
we know that things were mailed today because international students got the DHL email today stating that a package was on the way for them meaning that the admissions officers mailed their results today. Second, both the usc connect website and all of the mysterious "back door links" and down and inactivated for the first time in months today meaning that decisions were mailed out today and that the USC admissions office is preparing to allow people who get their letters tomorrow to sign up and pay deposits. However, i guess we wont know for sure until we see if people in Los Angeles and Orange Counties get their letters tomorrow.

Madbean,
Thank you so much!! How did you find out the dates? Were you a scholarship admit (February)?

^^No, no! My S2 is waiting like everyone. But S1 is a junior at USC and was just invited to speak on a panel for the Explore sessions to come for newly admitted students. When the admission link gets activated, you will be able to make a reservation at one of these sessions if you wish.

@wesleyhwl DHL is for overseas only - if you live in the US (unless you are applying as international), you will not get an email

I was pretty hopeful for USC because many people from my school get in but now my confidence is shaken! Now I am really praying for that email. I just hope DHL is slow or something and that email is coming to my inbox soon. Guess we will know for sure in a couple of days but it's so hard to wait.

Ishimura,
You may find these numbers of interest. USC is more selective than you thought.

There are rankings and rankings. I will use some information from U.S. News and some from the websites.

In the latest national university rankings SC was ranked above UCLA. It is difficult for a major university to continue cutting and cutting and not affect quality, in my opinion.
Here are some numbers from U.S. News that you would find of interest.

USC Faculty Resources----- 29th
UCLA Faculty Resources-----41st

USC Percentage of classes over 50----11%
UCLA Percentage of classes oveer 50----22%

USC Faculty student ratio-----1/9
UCLA Faculty student ratio-----1/17

USC Alumni Giving Rank-----4th
UCLA Alumni Giving Rank-----106th

USC Percentage who donate-----43%
UCLA Percentage who donate-----13%
--------------------------------------------

These numbers are from the SC and UCLA student profiles:

For the ENROLLED classes in 2010.

GPAs could not be compared as UCLA uses a 5. system and SC uses a 4. system

Both universities use the same ACT system.
USC ACT Composite: 29-33
UCLA ACT Composite: 25-31

Comparison of SAT scores:

USC Critical Reading
620-720

UCLA Critical Reading
570-680

USC Math
650-750

UCLA Math
600-740

USC Writing
640-740

UCLA Writing
580-710

UCSD is ranked 12 spots lower than USC and their selectivity rank is lower.
What is important is which university is the best fit FOR YOU.

MA2011,

you're missing the point of what wesleyhwl is trying to say. I understand because im kind of in the same situation. We are both INTERNATIONAL applicants BUT live in the US. I in fact live 20mins away from SC. He/she is asking whether we will get DHL notifications or if it will be sent normal mail.

Im guessing we'll get normal mail, it would be a waste of USCs money to DHL us.

so from what i've read it seems like decisions were mailed out today, the 22. USC is one of my top schools and i've been extremely anxious to hear from them and they only send decisions through snail mail and do not post anything on their website. however, my question is i live in new jersey, any idea how long it will take from the time they mail out their decisions until i receive it? thanks and good luck to all of you applying !! :]

not trying to troll or anything, but i personally think USC can be a little overrated. I'm only going to consider going there if they give me money. Otherwise... go BRUINS!!!

Comefastcollege,
The question of how long it will take for the admissions decision to reach you in New Jersey is based on whether or not you get accepted.
If you get accepted then they send the letter via USPS priority mail (express) and it is in an 8.5x11 envelope. It takes 1-3 business days and should reach New Jersey by Friday.
If you get rejected (hopefully NOT) then they will send the letter via USPS first class mail (standard) and it is in a standard small business envelope. It should take 5-7 days and reach you mid next week or near the start of April.

I wish all of you the best of luck!

Woah...no "Go Bruins" bullcrap here!

I am not someone who is rabid about the rivalry, but USC is where I want to be and anywhere else is subpar. Period. I'm open minded though and have friends from other universities. A BRUIN SAVED MY LIFE. Srsly.

Hoping for my letter tomorrow...if not, hoping for it in two months. Those dang admissions people!
