how long is a paragraph

The USC supplements ask for one paragraph. However, the broad USC supplement gives a limit of 3500 characters...thats one huge paragraph. Currently, mine is about 2000 characters, but is a huge block on text...should I keep it that way?

Also, as I am applying to Viterbi, about how long are peoples supplements for those?

thank you!
