So I am wondering about joining a top house as a transfer student. I have been accepted for fall 2012 my sophomore year, but I am probably going to go in spring and I know top houses don't do spring rush. Then one of my guy friends who who's in a top house at sc, said it would be difficult to get into a sorority your junior year. AHHH now I'm very stressed. Is it true juniors are unlikely to get in?

If your plans work out as stated here you would be going through recruitment in the fall of 2013. Membership is by mutual choice. The good news is a NPC chapter, Alpha Gamma Delta, will be returning to the row in time for recruitment. In addition to the other chapters Alpha Gamma Delta will be recolonizing and taking a large number of women in all classes. This will be an opportunity for women to consider a chapter which will be returning and selecting members after formal rush has ended.

Before going through recruitment it is recommended you have a frank discussion with your parents/guardians about the expenses involved in membership.

Also, have an open mind. Chapters do take juniors, but there are far more freshmen in the new member classes. A helpful website is: GreekChat.com. The site has forums for all NPC chapters, photos, explanations of the process and information about national philanthropies.

I want to transfer to USC next year,my junior year, and I am currently a Pi Phi at my school now and was wondering if it's difficult to reaffiliate?

@becc1234 I am going to be honest with you its going to be very hard for you to get into any of the top houses at USC coming in as a junior. Every top only gets 2 (I think it used to be 4) juniors that won't count against quota. The top houses actually only take 2 and they are usually friends of girls in the houses, legacies or very well connected. The reason being is that the junior class has already been selected. Very few juniors get into top houses and very many go through rush. The houses that take some more juniors are the mid-tier/low-mid tier houses (particularly ADPi, Gamma Phi and SDT) and of course AXO takes on the most juniors. I've been an RC and was previously on PHC and I am going to tell you that even though its possible to get into a top house it will be close to impossible to do so.
I would suggest you go in with an open mind. Usually, formal recruitment consists of 750-800 girls going through the process and a lot of junior transfers are involved in that so, as you might expect a lot of them get shafted. USC has a really tough recruitment process and its done through mutual selection. For juniors its not anything personal why houses don't pick you even if you are amazing they just can't because they would rather pick a girl thats going to be there for 4 years and not 2. That being said if you want a great sorority experience USC is the perfect school to get it at and I would keep an open mind about the process because you just never know.

@LegallyBrunette3 it should not very hard for you to reaffiliate with pi phi unless there is something severely wrong with you. You should be able to do so just fine.
