Nope, not in the dorms. You can borrow a vacuum cleaner from the main desk, however!

Is it difficult for transfer students from out of state to get assimilated?
I mean, it won't be hard for me to make friends, but I was just wondering if USC has programs or anything to help transfer students get accustomed to everything.

I was wondering if anyone on this forum knows anything about the masters program for accounting
is it a 4 year program or 5 year program? And how hard is it to do?

Would this be too hectic? Going pre-med, joining a frat, playing club sport, and doing work study? I do not have very good time management skills, but I will try to work on them.

It is possible, but you will really need to work on those time management skills. Try to find a work study job where you can study. Library jobs usually involve that. Make sure that you don't start skipping class- that is where people really get in trouble. Keep a calendar, and know what you need to get done each week. Make sure to do it all.

I would suggest to take it easy the first semester at USC to see how you handle these things before you take on a lot of them.

| Good/Bad Profs
Could anyone compile a list of good/ outstanding (as well as not so good) USC professors teaching GE courses? I really need this information because I am registering for classes soon. Thanks!

| Classes to Avoid
Also, can anyone please tell me what USC GE classes should be avoided (i.e. bad prof, course material too dense, etc.)? Thank you.

It's really difficult for most people to just "suggest" a "good" GE/Prof unless you give some details, ie which category, because some classes go through rotations and aren't taught every semester, or they can switch who teaches them. However, you can look for yourself who is good by going to the Schedule of Classes, then see what's being offered/who's teaching. Look at the "Course Evaluations" link on myUSC (it's in the group with Blackboard and the Web Registration) and then see how the Prof's ratings were. That or look at ratemyprofessors.com, for the most part, it is pretty reliable, but take everything with a grain of salt.

Thank you so much for the advice akalboy. Just a question for ratemyprofessors.com. What range for overall quality is considered "good?" For instance, 4.0-5.0, 4.5-5.0, etc.. I heard from some students that anything below a 4.5 is skeptical. Also, what are some GE-6 Social Issues classes that students usually find interesting but not impossibly hard to do well in?

How is the USC network when you're looking for jobs outside of California, for example, on the east coast?

xbored,
This is information from the Marshall brochure on the Leventhal accounting track.
Progressive Accounting Degree: Especially beneficial for merit scholars with 32 AP or college credits as entering freshman. This is an honors program. A candidate will graduate from USC with both a bachelor and master degree in four years. It is suggested for high achieving, goal directed, mature students with demonstated leadership skill, both inside and outside the classroom.
A honors student will complete a Master of Accounting (MAcc) or Master of Business Taxation (MBT), while completing the requirements for the bachelor's degree.
The program allows students to complete more than 150 units, the number of units required by most states to qualify to sit for the CPA exam.
Here is the Marshall website: USC Marshall |
