I am sure that this will be asked soon, so might as well add it to the list. The procedures for appealing Financial Aid are here:

Things to pay particular attention to:

Before Posting A Chances Thread, Please Read First

Before posting a chances thread, Please read this first.

I tried to get this placed at the top of the USC thread but administrators won't do it. I did get them to place this thread "FAQ for USC Admissions" at the top so I'll link some instructions for making a chances thread here.

Please Read First: Posting "Chances" Threads

I submitted my part I application weeks ago and I got a letter in the mail about them receiving it. It also has my USC ID number in there. My question is how do I login in and start part II?

I think you use the same login and password for part I. The USC ID is for letter of recommendations or transcript that you need to send in.

Okay i came upon another problem. When I first made my account for USC I start part I online. But then in the mail I recieved the paper form and i decided to turn that one in. Now when I login in it says for application status that they received my Part I. Now when I go to the top of the screen it shows that i must still complete part I (the online version that i originally started). How do i start part II? what do I do about the online part I that i started but didn't complete?

I'd definitely recommend calling the admissions office and asking for help on that one.

Did you save a copy of part I copy? If you did, copy the same information and put it online for part I, they go on and do part II.

I took both the ACT and SAT tests and I would like to know if I can JUST put my ACT score (The better of the two test) on the Part II application? When I signed up for both tests, I went ahead and put USC as one of the colleges to send my score. So would USC see my scores anyway; even if I don't put it on the application?

Yes, if you specified USC as a recipient of the SAT scores, they will see them regardless of what you put on the application. I believe that you can change the list of recipients up to a few weeks before the results are made available.

A few things to note:

1) Practically every school that has both SATs and ACTs will use the score that is most favorable to you for admissions purposes. They do not do that from the goodness of their heart (as they would dearly like you to believe), but because it makes THE SCHOOL look better if they admit you.

2) Don't remember if USC expects SAT IIs, but if you send in SATIIs, they will also receive your SATs, there is no way around that.

If I remember correctly, SAT IIs were not required last year, but this may have changed for this year's applicant pool. All prospective students need to carefully read the USC requirements for admissions to see which tests, etc. are required.

Do I add pluses and minuses to my grades in the application?

From the USC admission office-

-For freshman applicants- plus/minus grades ARE NOT considered. Do not add pluses or minuses to the freshman application.

-For transfer applicants- plus/minus grades ARE considered for all college level work.

-For existing USC students- plus/minus grades ARE used for calculating USC GPA.

What about part 1 of the USC application?

Is Part 1 required for admission?
No
Is Part 1 similar to Early Decision or Early Action?
No. There is no Early Decision or Early Action at USC.
Does submitting part 1 mean I will receive my acceptance notification earlier?
No.
What if I don't know some of the information needed for part 1 or I change it later?
Part 1 information is not used when administrators review and evaluate your application for admission. It's OK if something is wrong on your part 1 application or if you make changes later (grades, test scores, major.) DO notify USC (or call) if you will make changes to your personal information like name or address.
Does submitting part 1 improve my chances of admission because it shows interest?
No. From the USC Admissions website, "Be assured that the Part I is optional and the lack of a Part I will in no way affect your admission."
Why do part 1?
It helps USC so they can get their file started on you before the mad rush of application receipts. It also saves you money ($15 for 2008.)

Is there a way I can print out the teacher forms (for my teacher whose writing my letter) before I complete the application itself? Does that mean I have to submit it first before i get the forms?

From USC Admission FAQ-
"If I apply online... how do I provide the other required documents?"
"Other required documents, such as the High School/College Transcript Request and the School Report, can be downloaded and then printed so that you can mail them later."
USC Undergraduate Admission - FAQs

You can download the forms here (see 2-7, Counselor/Teacher report is #5):

A little question. Why do I need to mail in my SAT results since CollegeBoard will send my scores over anyway?
