| SC is the kind of university where....
Students from over a hundred countries find themselves wearing cardinal and gold, becoming loyal Trojans
A dean remembers your name years after you graduated
Midori, who holds the Jascha Heifetz Chair of Violin, is named a Messenger of Peace by the United Nations
The governor of the state sends his daughter
In 2006 the Torah was moved across campus, a contingent of the Trojan Marching Band accompanied the Rabbi
A young man stunted by early childhood cancer, is all decked out in Trojan gear and "assists" the football team at the games and at the practices
The bike racks have slots for skateboards adjacent to them
One of the largest sororities is proud to have 44 members who earned a 3.75 GPA or better last semester
In a tree shaded patio next to the Thornton School music stands are permanently set by park benches for impromptu practice by music students
The Hillel group will deliver hot chicken soup to a student member who has a cold
A USC alumni club in China raises $160,000 for the new Tutor Student Center in a country where there is no tax benefit for donations
A world famous film director serves on the board of the cinema school even though he was rejected for admission
The university president opens his private home frequently for prospective freshmen and their parents to meet him and distinguished faculty
There is great athletic tradition, but also was honored by having 18 Fulbright Scholars and recipients of many other prestigious scholarships/fellowships
Alumni in Georgia, 2000 miles away from campus, raised funds for a record number of 5 partial scholarships for Georgia SC students
Students can be found all over the world wearing cardinal and gold USC shirts
Most classes are small, some with just 4 or 6 students.
The world famous cellist, Ralph Kirshbaum, holds the Piatigorsky Endowed Chair for Violoncello and makes beautiful music at the Thornton School
The football coach is honored for his community service work
A huge fundraiser is held at the Olympic pool, Swim with Mike, to raise scholarship funds for handicapped athletes across the country
Film companies can often be found on campus
A new freshman can find friends in 600 organizations
At an alumni gathering families can be found with 20 or more members, all Trojans
Students can find a "second home" in one of the 80 religious organizations
Freshman students in the Marshall Schoo LINC program can travel abroad to learn more about global business
A band member wins an award and plays at every game, but does not march as he fights MS
The Little Chapel of Silence, a hidden gem on the campus, is a place for quiet contemplation
Three men banded together to donate the land in the 1800s to form a new university in Los Angeles
Flowers can be found all over the campus
The Gamble House in Pasadena is being preserved by the USC School of Architecture
The academic parade of students at Commencement shines bright in a rainbow of colors

An alumnus is the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong
The Trojan Marching Band plays the Alma Mater at a football player's funeral who often said while at SC, "I'm living my dream."
Creativity is nurtured and graduates build companies such as X-Box, Wham-O, MySpace and ThatGame
A university marine science center is located on beautiful Catalina Island
The Poet Laureate of California is a professor of English
Faculty and students take pride in the immaculate campus
A program has started to train wounded Marine vets to enter the film industry
Since 1904 nearly 400 Trojans have participated in the Olympic Games
Faculty and staff voluntarily donated a record $1.1 million to the USC Good Neighbors Campaign to assist those in the surrounding community
KUSC is now the largest listener-supported classical music station in the nation
Many alumni from the Class of '58 returned for 50-Year Reunion Weekend and donated $165,000 for Widney House and the new student center
The USC Shoah Institute is preserving the priceless legacy of Holocaust survivors by digitizing more than 100,000 hours of videotaped survivor testimonies
School of Theatre alumni continue to bring home Oscars and Golden Globes year after year
A small statue of an early mascot, Tirebiter, is found along a campus walkway
The first member of his family to attend college later became Chairman of the USC Board of Trustees
Gifts enabled the building of the Dornsife Cognitive Neuroscience Imaging Center and the Molecular & Computational Biology Building which will provide new breakthroughs to improve human health
The campus is wheelchair friendly and special programs support handicapped students

Incredible information...But my favorite part? The humanity of our faculty, alumni and students...they serve our world, country, our state, and our community, often without fanfare.
I can truly say that I learned about the need for charitable acts yes, first at home, but then from my sorority at SC many years ago. Lessons never forgotten are learned here.

| Trojan Marching Band Trumpet Player
....just discovered the TMB trumpet player mentioned above graduated with a double major in German and print journalism. He was awarded the Spirit of Troy honor, given to the most inspirational player in the band.

Wow, this is awesome.
"An alumnus is the first man to walk on the moon, Neil Armstrong" ---> I totally did not know this, but it makes me happy... being an astronaut would totally be like my dream job.
