How exactly does the housing app/roommate assignments work?

I know we can change our building preferences until May 4th, but what I'm a little confused about are the roommate requests. If we accept a request does that mean USC Housing will try to put us together? In that case, are we allowed to accept more than 1 request to create a list of possible matches that the Housing people would try to follow?

if you want someone to be your roommate, you both have to accept each other and make sure your housing preferences are EXACTLY the same.. if you do this w/ more than one person, i'm not sure what happens.
