Class Rank: 29 (clinging on to Top 10%)
Class Size: 311
Honors: All but 1
AP: My school has very minimal options for AP's. I'm taking AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, AP English.
Scores:

ACT: Have not taken
SAT: 1990 (640 Reading, 670 Math, 690 Writing, 10 Essay) Hope to get above 2000 when I take them again next weekend.
SAT II: Not sure which ones I'm taking, but I will take them in the fall.

Significant Extracurriculars: Concert Band, Concert Choir, Jazz Band, Jazz Choir, A Cappella Choir, Percussion Ensemble, Math League, Writer of comedic articles for local Newspaper, Yearbook Editor, Marching Band, Drum Major, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, International Thespian. There's more but I can't think of them

Leadership positions: Marching Band: Drum Major; Drama Club: Junior Representative; Camp Counselor at Triboro Youth Theatre Summer Camp, YearBook Editor-in-Chief,

Volunteer/Service Work: Freshman and Sophomore year was part of Y Leader's which was 100+ hours of volunteer service each year. Junior and Senior I have/will be volunteering with NHS.

Honors and Awards: Honor Roll/High Honor Roll, National Honor Society, Spanish National Honor Society, International Thespian Society, Excellence in Vocal Jazz (Junior Year), 2009 One Act Play Festival (Best Director, Crowd Favorite Actor, Crowd Favorite Play), Renaissance Scholar (Either Honor Roll/Perfect Attendance during the term)-Every Term of my high school career. Probably more that I can't think of.

Applying to USC's School of Cinematic Arts for Writing for Screen & Television.

Bump. I'd also like to mention I said my weighted GPA was a 3.7. I meant to say my unweighted GPA was a 3.7, and my weighted GPA is a 112.01...I don't know what that is out of 4.0

Hi jkain92. Just looking at the numbers (but of course, that isn't all the adcom will look at)--the average GPA for admitted students in 2008 was 3.8 unweighted. Avg SAT was 2108. While you are a little bit lower, that shouldn't rule you out. However, you are applying to the SCA and for film majors, there is much weight given to the supplemental application. Make sure you go to their website and read what is needed.

The difficult fact is the admissions rate for the SCA is 4-6%, so it's extremely competitive. You have wonderful ECs, so make sure to take extra time to fill out your supplement. Those essays are the key.
