definitely wasn't extra easy and you had to work to get a good grade.
didn't read the book. it was extra boring. just took notes in class.
there were five assignments (but he cancelled one of them), two essays, and either 2 or 3 exams
for the tests, he gave out a study guide and as long as you worked with other students and you all took good notes and answered each question on the study guide thoroughly, then you ended up with a pretty good grade. oh and he had a session before each exam for the students to discuss the study guide.

i'd recommend taking it. it's not an easy class but still pretty interesting. i enjoyed all those controversial moral issues and what not. idk which you should avoid but i hear people like los angeles and the american dream.

Did you also have Professor Finlay, or do Schroeder and Finlay alternate semesters (ie. one takes fall and one takes spring)? I ask because it seems that Finlay is the one teaching Phil 140g this fall.

-finlay must be the only one teaching this semester. i had schroeder in the spring.
-cat 6 and writ 140 can be taken the spring semester of freshman year.

So, how crucial/helpful is it to take a category VI GE that also fulfills diversity? Is that something that can be easily filled later, or is it best to fill the diversity now?

you don't have to fulfill it with cat 6. i fulfilled mine with cat 1. it's probably best to do a class that covers both a cat and diversity. you get to get rid of two requirements by just taking one class.

I've heard that the SOCI GE's and AMST101gm are the easiest GE/Diversity courses. Is there a professor or two that are known to be particularly easy though?

And do you always recommend picking a class for its teacher or its interest level?

I have come to the conclusion that having a really good teacher is more important than interest in the topic, but that if you don't have such a good teacher, then being interested in the class is basically essential.
