Category V (Arts & Letters)

Anyone know how "On Beauty" is, or have suggestions for other classes for this category that are good/easy?

Armageddon Stories: End of the World was AMAZING. The teacher is incredible and it's not that hard of a class at all. It's only offered in the Spring, but definitely worth holding off 'til then.

I really enjoyed "Sense and Sensuality in South Asia". Professor McHugh is really passionate about what he teaches and we went on two field trips; one to the LACMA and the other to a local South Asian restaurant.

I'm taking Types and Stereotypes of the American West right now with Dr. Scheer. It's a very chill class. Pop quizzes aren't really pop quizzes, you just have to show up and do it to get credit. Dr. Scheer tends to ramble because he really likes Westerns, but beware, he is a WRIT-340 professor, so I personally think he has slightly unrealistic expectations for the essays written by the poor freshmen in this class. But don't worry, the 2 papers in the whole course are like 1000 words each and each is only worth 20%. Attendance/participation, quizzes, and a final make up the rest. So, realistically, if you do well on everything else and average Bs or Cs on the papers (he doesn't grade THAT hard, for a WRIT-340 professor at least. Heck, I got an A minus on my first paper.), you should be able to do well. I'll update this later if my opinion changes.

do not take Love and Death in the Russian Novel. Very difficult with lots of reading and LONG papers.
