Right after I saw the redesign of the website (new colors), I quickly checked to see if USC had been moved to a CC Top University. I thought that maybe since they were upgrading their site, they might also revise (correct) that list. I actually had a few seconds of glimmering hope thinking that the CC admins might actually have a heart and a brain. But of course, there was no such change. What was I thinking?
USC IS a CC Top University and SHOULD be noted as such. But after seeing Mr. Dooley's blantantly biased thread, I see there is too much resentment from the administrators here for that ever to happen. It must really bug them to see the overwhelming popularity of USC.

I agree, USC deserves the spot. Maybe even NYU as well.
What have the administrators said so far on this issue?

| Hope that this thread will get someone's attention
Really hope that this thread will open someone's eyes at CC to see that they are making themselves look bad by being so unreasonably biased against one school -- if they can manipulate the information on this site to suit their own purposes then where is the value in this site?

can anyone say: "University of Spoiled Children?"
Haha, i'm just kidding. But as a transfer student to USC, I really don't care about being considered one of CC's top universities. Especially all the supposed jealousy at the fact that UNC is considered in the top even though USC is "higher" ranked. CC is completely independent of US News, therefore the fact that USC is 27 and UNC is 30th should mean nothing. The only reason why USC has yet to get onto that list is because USC has just recently become a very good school. USC really was not that great of a school until this decade when they decided to spend a lot more money on their academics. While I agree that it is a "top" university now, the best thing to do is to just wait. And it's really stupid for us students to say that one school shouldn't be a top university. UNC is an extremely prestigious university with great academics. What they don't have in terms of high standardized test scores and high GPA's in their applicants, they make up for in their administration and faculty. UNC is an extremely well run school with fantastic professors. I think the biggest reason why the number of UNC posts isn't that high is because it's not that exciting to be going to a state school. Most of the people on this discussion board are people who want to go to private schools.

Hi thesecrtaznman,
I don't think anyone is suggesting that UNC be removed..just that USC be added to the list. There is a limit on the number of colleges that can be in the Top list -- I think the problem everyone is having with this is that it seems like a specific snub by the administrators of this board...who not only refused to place it on the top but also have placed an inflamatory permanent thread at the top of the USC board when they haven't placed a similar thread on any of the other schools who are mentioned in the article about ranking. It just seem slike blatant manipulation by administrators who should be impartial but are not.

i really dont mind if UNC is still on there, but i just think USC should be added..
also, im not saying only ranking, im basing this off of popularity on the website as well.. the category is, 'CC Top Universities' so the most 'important' universities ON THIS SITE should be on there, including USC |

yeah i understand what you guys are saying and i do agree with you both. I just get the impression that many people here feel that UNC shouldn't be on that list over USC simply because USC is ranked higher according to USNews, which i find to be a ridiculous argument. I know you guys aren't saying it shouldn't be on the list, but I just dont' get why people are mentioning it in the first place. I guess the reason why I'm so defensive about this is because USC and UNC are the two transfer schools I applied to. I got into both and I think that both schools are very similar and equally prestigious. Both schools should definitely not be neglected when discussing "top schools" in america.

UNC has nothing to do with this. USC should be added to that section regardless.

Rosieoney says it best... I don't think anyone is suggesting that UNC be removed..just that USC be added to the list. There is a limit on the number of colleges that can be in the Top list -- I think the problem everyone is having with this is that it seems like a specific snub by the administrators of this board...who not only refused to place it on the top but also have placed an inflammatory permanent thread at the top of the USC board when they haven't placed a similar thread on any of the other schools who are mentioned in the article about ranking. I just can't believe that Roger would place the negative thread about USC at the top of USC's threads, especially when it has rolled off of the CC home page. There is no way that it was innocently done. If he felt it was a "current" event/article then he could have placed it in the CC Hot Topics (where it was). But to put an additional listing at the Top of USC's threads shows definite intent on his part. (To this day, I disagree with the supposed importance of the article, and I disagree with the "title" of the thread.) I, and many others, have sent private messages and/or emails to Roger about the thread, and he refuses to even acknowledge them. I guess he is just too important to acknowledge the questions and complaints of his users. For whatever it is worth Roger, if it weren't for us users (all users), you wouldn't have the popular website that you have. When there are issues with TV shows, when a viewer does not like the content of the show, or has some complaint about something that occurred on the show, the way that viewers can communicate their complaints is to contact the sponsors, and to not watch the show, and to not buy products from the sponsors. It would be tricky to do, but I suppose that we could systematically figure out who the sponsors (those companies who pay MONEY to advertise on CC) and communicate our displeasure with the biased articles and treatment. If anyone could have an impact on Roger, it would be the sponsors.

Well... I agree ( we probably all do here) but I'm not sure if this is a futile petition... I feel like the admins already know we think we should be on the list, and for some reason or another, purposely left it out and will most likely stay that way. Perhaps for bad reps regarding integrity or less prestigious history, but I'll admit I'm obviously biased in favor of USC since I go here...

At this point, my primary interest is for Roger to remove the permanent derogatory thread at the top of USC's page, and for Roger to apologize to us.
I do agree that USC deserves to be listed in the Top Schools, but i doubt that a petition will make that happen.
I will reiterate what I posted above, contacting the "sponsors" of CC (those who pay to put Advertisements on the site), may be our best leverage. It definitely will require more work on our part (and will require more time than posting an agreement post to this thread), but if Roger hears negative feedback from one or more of his sponsors, he might think twice about being so loose and biased with his threads.

OK, so far i have found 3 sponsors (companies who pay money to advertise on CC).
Progressive.com - I called and spoke with Investor relations. The woman indicated that if we wish to express our complaints regarding "CC" (or any organization/company that they -Progressive.com- advertise on), we can call: 440-461-5000, and "ask for Andrew (ext 575-1095)".
Lincoln Education Services: Lincolnedu.com. 973-736-9340. I have not yet called LincolnEdu.
Ally Bank: Classic CD, No Penalty CD, Money Market & Savings Rates | Ally Bank, 866-710-4623, or, 313-656-6970. I have not yet called Ally. They also have an email customercare@ally.com
I will continue to gather CC Sponsor information.
