just wondering what type of a GPA i would have to get and how many credit hours i should get before applying if i were to transfer from Ohio State or University of Miami... both students are freshmen at their respective schools... Ohio State student is in his first quarter and Miami student is in his first semester

just ask for any extra information you want and i'll answer as soon as possible...

Transfer Information

On the SC website in the admissions forum is a large section devoted to transfer student information. The 2009 data has not yet been posted, but 2008 statistics are in a PDF file on the site. There is also a question and answer section.

Here are a few highlights:

This is out of date now, but will give you a general idea of grade expectations. My understanding is the entering 2009 class had about 10,000 applicants and the GPA average was higher.

Entering for fall of 2008 were 1500 transfers. Applicants numbered 8300. The average GPA (college grades) was 3.65. Keep in mind for some schools such as music, fine arts, cinema and theatre talent, imagination and creativity can be more important than grades or test scores.

These transfer students came from:

Public colleges in CA 10%
Private colleges in CA 6%
Colleges outside of CA 19%

On College Confidential is a large forum for transfer students. On the forum is a SC thread. You will find additional information there.

My suggestion is to read the information on the SC website, visit the campus, attend one of the SC information nights in your area and achieve the highest grades you can in your present course of study.

Good luck!

On that note. When they say 30 credits are they referring to having completed 30 credits or in the process of completing them (would be end of 2nd semester)/ can ap credits count towards this total
