USC Application

My S just submitted USC app last night, and we beat the deadline by almost one month (lol). Here are the questions:

1) when do we expect to hear the admission decision?
2) when do we expect to hear the half tuition scholarship decision for national merit scholarship finalists.
3) when do we expect to receive the interview invite for the USC trustee scholarship etc.
4) when do we expect to find out the final merit scholarship decision.

Thanks for the info....

Regards,

1) From cc411's post #10 in the FAQ for USC admissions:
Quote:
This is the GENERAL mailing of USC letters:

-End of January through February: Acceptances for those who will receive merit scholarships. Letters/invitations for merit scholarship interviews.
-End of February: Letters for other merit scholarships.
-Beginning of March through the beginning of April: Acceptances for all others.
-1st or 2nd week in April: Rejections
2) If you are NMF, are accepted and designate USC as your #1 choice, you get the scholarship. So I guess the "date" would be the date you are accepted.

3) The interview invite has generally come about three to five days after a late January/early February acceptance.

4) Late March/early April.

GOOD LUCK!!

We have until end of March/early April to decide first choice of school. If we get acceptance by end of January from USC, but the first choice of NMF has not been decided yet, how does it work?

Can someone who experienced this last year share their thoughts and/or lesson learnt?

Thanks in advance!

Students accepted in January still have until later to designate their first choice. One tip I heard from many posts here was to leave it "undecided" for the time being. There also is no hurry to submit a commitment deposit early for students who are accepted in that first group. They still have until May 1st to make their decision.

Hopefully I haven't confused you too much - I think I see what you are asking now.

To clarify, the NMF scholarship is completely different from the two scholarships that students receive invitations to interview for in January and early February. Those are the full-tuition Trustee and the 1/2 tuition Presidential.

Your son does not have to be admitted in the early group to get the NMF scholarship, and there is no interview for it.

NMF who are also awarded the Trustee or Presidential cannot "add" the scholarships together. For example, if he earns the 1/2 tuition Presidential and the NMF 1/2 tuition scholarship, it is not added together for full tuition, he would still receive "only" 1/2 tuition.

There's no scholarship application for those big merit scholarships(Trustee and Presidential) at USC.
Am I right?

You are right. Just be sure to submit your application by the scholarship deadline of 12/1/2009. Good luck!
