Individual Music Lessons from Thorton help

So right now I'm trying to decide between individual music lessons either in piano or vocal.

I've never taken vocal lessons in my life although I've played piano for 10 years. I haven't played in 4 years or so however.

I want to take vocal lessons but I wasn't sure what to expect. Has anybody taken any of these classes? Can you please tell me what the classes are like?

Also how's class called "class voice" like? is it just a choir class basically? Would individual lesson help alot more?

MPVA 141 Class Voice (2)

MUIN 277x Introduction to Music Technology (4)
MUIN 570 The Music Industry (4)
MUIN 575 Music Technology and Production (4)

Also does anybody know anything about these classes, especially MUIN 277x?? Thanks! I need to decide ASAP so please help... thanks. (if anybody needs help picking fine art/ctan classes, I'll help too)

Can a non-music major take music classes at Thornton?

If you're not a music major or minor can you still take vocal lessons at USC? Also, are there any practise soundproof rooms if you want to practise singing? Again, this would be for someone who is not a music major at Thornton -- a student in Annenberg but interested in voice and music. THANKS!!

Yes, you can take MPVA 101x and/or MPVA 300x "Non-Major Individual Instruction." The classes are 1 - 2 units per semester depending on how long your lesson, and you can take up to 16 units of each over your four years. MPVA | USC Schedule of Classes On the schedule look under "Thornton School of Music" and then choose "Performance (Vocal Arts)"

(MPVA = Music Performance Vocal Arts)

Practice rooms?

Thanks - Alamemom
This is exciting! Do you know if they have soundproof practice rooms if you want to practice singing (specifically before auditions, etc.)? THANKS!!
I notice you always seem to have great answers. Much appreciated!

Awww shucks! Thanks, Rosieony. My D is making the most of her time at USC, so she is gathering lots of info that she passes on to me. Here is an overview of the facilities: USC Thornton School of Music : About Us: Performance Halls and Studios I think the practice rooms themselves are more to keep distractions out than music in, but the various venues likely have a small area for warm ups that isolate the sound from the audience. D will have her first recital during finals week, so I won't know for sure until then! Maybe a current music student has more info???
