UMich, UT-Austin, Cornell, UC-Berkeley... How do they compare?

UMich, UT-Austin, Cornell, UC-Berkeley... how do they compare...

I noticed that UT-Austin is rather low in most rankings.... but so far that ive heard... UT-Austin is a very good school, as prestigious as any ive listed above.. please comment.

thx for replies in advance

All three of those are generally considered more prestigious. When it gets to the level that all four of these schools are on, it really comes down to the programs you want and what you want to get out of school. It's impossible to say "Cornell is better than UT-Austin" because they offer remarkably different experiences with their high levels of education.

I've looked into all of these schools because of their engineering programs and they are all top ten programs so for engineering there all great, but it's almost impossible to compare UC and Ivy league schools to schools like UMich and UT. If i had to choose one i would definetely go with Texas just because of the great enviroment in Austin.

What makes umich so expensive compared to UT? It's just a state school isnt it?
