Admission decision before audition?

Hey there

I am auditioning for the School of Music in February, but shouldn't I be finding out my admission to UT before then? I have to be admitted into the university before the college can even consider me, right?

Or can I get totally denied from UT if the school of music doesn't want me?

My plan was to audition and if I didn't make it this year, just study basics until my second year and re-audition...is this possible?
