instate chances please

My GPA will probably be around a 3.5 and I am applying to the school of geosciences. I have no letters of recomendation or volunteer hours. I go to a 4 yr college.

I'm a current UT student and honestly I think your borderline. In my opinion you should apply to liberal arts and then transfer into the school of geosciences.

Uthopeful, it all depends on the college you're applying to within the UT system and the competitiveness of the transfer pool.

Just anecdotal, but - 2 years ago, my son's girlfriend tried to transfer from Tulane (sophomore, with a "Katrina" semester at Rice) with a 3.45. She was transferring into natural sciences (PT undergrad), and she had been accepted out of highschool, top 10%, with a 1350 SAT. She was denied. BUT, another friend of his that was transferring into liberal arts with lesser stats was accepted at the same time.

So, it all depends.

Good luck!!

I've already been accepted, but my best friend really really needs to get in as well. Her stats are...
GPA: 94
She has one letter of recommendation from our english teacher, and two or three very awesome essays, she has at least 5 community service projects. she made 2nd in state in UIL Feature Writing, and is also applying for plan II.
SAT: 1750

sproutt, this guy is talking about transfer admits (he's already in college), not admission as a freshman.

Well I got 2 professors to write letters of recomendation for me so hopefully that will help my chances a bit more.

Also I am applying as pre-pharm first choice and geosciences undeclared second. I heard not alot of people apply to the school of geosciences and they want more students in the department.
