Is BHP the same admission process as Mccombs? 75% by rank?

WHY TWO KAY, you will get in next year. My daughter got into BHP on her 2nd year with 4.0. So trying to keep you GPA up. You need 4.0 when you apply next year. So work hard.

BHP is more wholistic than the McCombs school in general. Though their average student will probably be from the top 1-2....% of the class, that is not a necessity. I got in with a 3.07% ranking after my midyear GPA revision. A friend of mine in the top 10 at my school was rejected from BHP, but will probably transfer in for next year.

Essays are very important. They do read all of them, and even remember some of them past the admissions process.

Leadership experience is important. Yours looks good, I hope you make president. I like your consistent involvement in civil service.

As people have said, "better" have been rejected, but that definitely not mean that you are without hope at all.

I would give you an even shot at it. WRITE WELL.

sorry to hijack thread, but does BHP require a separate essay than the UT application itself?

I don't remember that being the case, but I did gear one of my essays to highlight corporate responsibility.

Of course, I think there is the honors application, but as has been said on various other threads that is not really an essay so much as a series of short answers about what you're interested in and why that honors program.

RewindPlayback, thank you so much for your response.

I've sent my application in, and am now just waiting anxiously.
i do hope i make it.

I don't understand how the admissions' 75% system works though.

I've read that McCombs fills up 75% going from top 1%, 2%, 3%, etc...

so does BHP have a completely different system, if so, how does that work, because I've been under the impression that one can only be considered for BHP after having been accepted to McCombs.

And thank you about liking my civil service commitment. Some of our defendents comes back to us after their case and tell us that we've inspired them to become a part of Teen Court.

It's a wonderful feeling. Quite uplifting actually.

My name is Eric H., and I'm a current senior Business Honors, Finance, Plan II student. I've worked in the Business Honors Program office since sophomore year as a student recruiter so I can provide advise and clarify any issues regarding BHP and the application. I'm one of three business honors student recruiters.

TheAccountingCat and Elasticity-- BHP admissions is completely separate from McCombs and UT. However, the order in which you will find out your admissions decisions is from UT, then McCombs, and finally BHP. The BHP admissions committee is not bound by any top XX% rule or any quotas, rather, as mentioned in this thread, the BHP application is very holistic, looking at students' performance both inside the classroom as well as in extracurricular and leadership roles.

ponder- there are no additional essays for BHP. The committee pulls essay A and essay B from your applyTexas application.

If you applied by Nov 1st, then you should start hearing back from the admissions committee around mid to late January. If you apply during the regular deadline (Dec 15th), you'll hear back latest by March 1st.

The interview is for selected applicants. That is, not everyone is guaranteed an application but all those who are admitted to BHP have gone through a phone interview with a BHP alumni. However, not everyone who gets an interview is guaranteed into BHP.

Basically, if selected, an alumni will email you to set a good time for a phone interview, then she or he will call you and conduct the interview. The interview should not be intimidating at all, rather, it's a chance for the committee to see what you're all about and add an additional perspective to your application.

Interview

So if I applied before November 1st (around October 25) and I am chosen for an interview, when should I start hearing from the alumni?
