minority status

is being indian considered a minority to UVa or does URM status only apply to Native americans, hispanics, and blacks? I heard somewhere that because indians always have such high grades/scores, they arent considered minority. I hope thats not true for UVA!

No, being indian will do you no favors, regardless of if you're a first-generation american whose parents worked their way out of impossibly bad and impoverished situations to come to america (I'm not saying that that applies to you, but I know more than a few asian immigrants with similar stories.) That being said, being indian won't really hurt you as an applicant.
