If you're applying after your first year in college, that may be the problem. Second year transfers are generally taken a bit more seriously, particularly if they had poor high school transcripts.

Is it at all possible to get in after the first year of college? Has anyone transferred after their first year? If so, what were your stats?

Yeah I got waitlisted too... does anyone know the amount of people who were waitlisted as transfers last year and the amount of people who got in off of the waitlist or are those numbers not given out?

I find it every conflicting for good students from Christopher Newport and James Madison to be waitlisted as transfers when UVA is supposed to take community college students, that is, "guaranteed admission" with comparable gpa's, etc. I think you students from CNU and JMU should write to the Director of Admissions. Maybe you'll get some explanation (?)

It might be that they're applying for admission after their first year. It's generally is easier to get in as a junior transfer...

yep

yea you can, i did. Had 4.0 in fall and a 1300 SAT. I kinda get the sense that if you want to transfer first year it is essencial that you get a 4.0 first semester... On a side note I was lookin on UVA website and found this thing about guranteed admission to virginia community college students who have a 3.4 gpa or higher after two years in community college and took certain classes. Anyways, that seemed pretty easy to pull off to me... so if you really want UVA there is a way.
