| He's got a 3.6 at what I'm presuming to be a good private school in DC. His SAT score is very good. And he's black. In the words of George Tenet, I'd say it's a slam dunk. |

| theres that statistic that im not going to go find again - its been around here for so longs im sure you can find it on the boards - 86% of black people who apply with over a 3.3 and 1100 on their sats get in. considering hes well over that i'm sure he's a slam dunk |

| Agreed. His odds are very good. If he doesn't get into UVA, he'll end up somewhere like Columbia or Duke anyway. |

| I live in and go to school in MD. I have a friend whos black, applied to UVAwith a slightly higher gpa and SAT score and he got waitlisted. But then again he got into all the ivies he applied to...so make what you can of that. |

| No one doubts your point, bo_bombers. People with great stats, from time to time, don't get in to schools. It happens. But it's been shown that black applicants do have a better chance of getting in, particularly if they have numbers that would have made them competitive as white or asian applicants. When people ask for chances on CC, I try to give it to them straight. |
