| When will we hear about Echols? Dean J,
I know Echols/Rodman letters were sent last year around March 15. Will that be the case this year? |

| I got the same question, I heard about those mid letter notifications from last year, but Dean J seemed to say that we won't hear til the end of the month...any clarification? |

| Yes, that is what happened last year. I got such a letter around March 20th and an email with essentially the same message soon afterwards. My dad gave me the envelope and I tossed it on my desk and added an hour to my interrupted nap before I opened it. I'd have to say wide-eyed shock feels better than stress release. So hang in there, you'll all get decisions within a few weeks. Make your wait shorter and your decision day better.
Good luck to all, enjoy your senior year, relax, and connect to those around you before you're off to college. |

| I got a call yesterday from someone from UVa saying that I was in consideration for becoming an Echols scholar. When I asked her what exactly that meant, she said that it meant that I had a very good chance of becoming one. When she called, she just talked about what the status meant and asked if I had any questions. I just wanted the rest of you to know that they're beginning to notify people about it (kind of, idk) |

| Do you have to apply to the Echols or do you just get it by qualifying? |

| I got a likely phone call too!
Time of day? Hahaa umm evening only because they called once before around 5pmish (I live in MD) and I wasn't home b/c of internshippingness.
We just talked and stuff. Totally casual, not serious, not evaluative. |

| Not to be annoying or anything (haha starting with that you know it will be), but does anyone know if everyone (or close enough to it) who gets picked gets a phone call?
I realize that most people won't get Echols, etc, so not getting it is not a big deal. Which is why I'm asking, because I don't want to get my hopes up if there's really no chance. I don't want to have over the top expectations. |

| I got a likely letter and a phone call from UVA a few days ago, but unfortunately I wasn't home and whoever it was said they'd call back on Monday. I hope it's Echols! |
