new student at UVA

Aight, so just a few questions:
-Where do I find my 9-digit student ID number? I have looked through all of the mail from UVA, did some big package not arrive?
-We sign up for classes at orientation, not online, yet, right?
-Can anyone list all of the things I should have done, should be getting done, and can look forward to getting done? Please?
I feel like I am falling very behind...

You'll be ok. Your student ID number is your SS#. (I wish they wouldn't do that with SS#'S--but they do).
Go to the site that I have posted below. It will prompt you to register for an orientation session. You start the process off by getting into the computer system, taking a brief quiz, getting your e-mail address, etc. Once you are in the system, you will have the opportunity to see what needs to be done (left side of screen). It will list registration/orientation sessions, housing, food options, medical stuff and such. That will be your beginning.
Don't wait for your MyUVA book. Register today. If for some reason their site does not recognize you yet, it's probably just because someone hasn't entered you into it yet. At first, housing said to me something like, "we don't know you", I checked it everyday, and then I was there!
The biggest deadline you face is the housing one that is due on 6/8/07. This can be done on-line--so, hopefully, no big deal. Though I think that registration for orientation was supposed to happen before 6/1/07? My advice, is to go ahead and try to register now anyway-online.

I guess you could also be looking into getting the appropriate vaccines and such.
That's my best advice right now. Best of luck!

a big thank you, jimmyjam

how do we not have non-internet ways of signing up for a deadline less than a week away?

anyway, i have the myuva stuff. i have also signed up for housing and orientation. this sets me at ease. guess i should get my 4th quarter transcript over...

only questions left, i guess, should we be using ISIS to sign up for class yet?

Oh, you're doing just fine then, IMHO.
ISIS though is for later if you don't like/or can't get the classes you get from the orientation session. Best of luck!
What dorm request have you put in for? I am waiting until the last minute--just can't make up my mind, though it probably doesn't matter anyway.

i did the two traditional first year dorms with alderman as my first pick. i cant wait to find out who my roommate is. i am definitely a proponent of them selecting for me. it seems so much more exciting

Yeh, I'm going to go with the random selection too. It's sort of a lady-or-the-tiger situation, but I've heard somewhere that kids who go through the random selection process actually have a better relationship with their roommates than those kids who roomed with friends or such. I hear great things about Alderman! Good choice!
