cubano, nice to meet you and good luck, my man! Yea, C school is probably the most competitive to transfer to. The VP of the SGA didnt aplply with a 3.3 GPA, but I thought that was a big mistake on his part - he would have given his left arm to go to c school. Im glad you applied becuase as you have probably seen, numbers arent everything. 3.0 is decent, but if you impress them with essays and letters of rec. then you will be a lot more competitive.

I hope you make it in.

only having read the first few posts in this thread... lol@accusations for diction on the internet.

if this were the UVa Application site, I might say something. seeing as how it's a forum... nah.

the internet is serious business guys...
no but for real people come here to learn and talk about legit things, so eh, I'd rather not see them get flamed and trolled like they have the potential for, but I don't think there was anything wrong with the way you worded your op. just keep in mind that this entire website was set up for elitists so it's not unreasonable to see reactions like we've seen here.

So I applied directly into Mcintire this year from a 4 year private college in DC. I applied to UVa CAS last year OOS as a transfer and was accepted but could not attend for financial reasons. I have the money this year so hopefully I will be accepted so that I can attend. I have a 3.6 GPA in the honors program, 2100/2400 SAT with many difficult courses(two levels of Chinese, Calc II, Lin Algebra, several higher level philosophy courses, etc.). I also already work 15 hrs/week as an analyst at an Investment Bank and am the president of my schools traveling debating society as a Sophomore.

I guess my worry is that 1)I believe my GPA may be too low and 2)I do not believe that I have one of the requirements(the intro business course?), but I have taken Information Technology, Business Finance, Marketing, and the Economics requirements so hopefully they will A) let me take it when I get there or B) Let me take it somewhere over the summer. Hopefully it will work out as I have become extremely impressed with the Mcintire program.

Ryan,

i talked to a uva counselor sometime ago, and what specifically remember was her saying: "if youre accepted into the spring semester, you have a guarantee into the fall semester." So, did you check if you even had to apply?

Personally, even if you didnt - I think that you have the stats to get in as a transfer.

Good luck, broseph

haha - thanks for backing me up, guys. I was shocked at my first few responses and about gave up on CC. Anyway, I still hvae those questions on my mind: do you guys think im a competitive applicant for transfering into SEAS?

I applied to Va tech, W&M, and UVA. I dont know 100% what I want to major in at the moment, but if I decide on engineering I will probably go to Tech. Otherwise, I will go to UVA. If I get into UVA I would like to double major in mathematics/philosophy and it seems to be possible with some hard work.

Well Mcintire is a different program than CAS so I do not think I am close to a "guarantee", considering I am OOS and the acceptance rate for the b school is ridiculously low for transfer. Also, I applied last time for Fall 2007, not Spring 2008. My college GPA is the exact same as last time, but I am thinking that I got in more on my high school stats/essay than college numbers. Anyway, here is to hoping for the best.

Ryan... you seem like a very strong applicant. Only thing holding you back might be difficulty of your present UG institution. I am assuming it is American University and if so, you should definitely be fine with a 3.6 + Hours at IB + 2100

Apparently there MIGHT be an exciting anouncement for transfer students today...

Notes from Peabody II: The UVA Application Process

The specific blog it will be posted in is...

As a transfer, I cannot help but think that they may be releasing decisions today. They have alwasys released decisions on fridays, so maybe they are staying with that "protocol". I dont know for sure, but I am really excited to find out what this "news" is!

Yes, we know that decisions come out April 30th after 5pm EST, but there might be an exciting announcement today. Which leads a lot of us transfers to believe that maybe, just maybe UVA will release the decisions today.

my lack of knowledge hopefully provided a chuckle to a few transfers. I'm not familiar with the transfer dates but decisions ARE coming out today. (well, most) again, good luck to everyone!!!!! and make sure to let us know if you got in!

P.S. This is really exciting despite the fact that I'm not a transfer. It's like decisions day all over again.

P.S.S. OH WAIT IT'S AFTER 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!
