Say more people accept their offer of admission than there is space. Will that cause more admission withdrawals in the end of the school year?

Nope. An offer is an offer. Except of course if your grades took a nose-dive. But they can't say "oh we miscalculated. sorry, we withdraw your admission.

Correct me if I'm wrong archrival, but I understood the questionl to be; if too many students accept a place at uva could they be more strict about rescinding offers to admitted students in order to make the numbers work.

Sort of a waiting list in reverse. Am I stating this correctly?

I can't imagine it but I'm hardly an expert in enrollment management.

i think the conventional wisdom of working off of the wait list would be a whole lot easier than doing battle with significant numbers of rescinded students.

Seriously bad mojo would result from going that route IMO.
