arriving before Move-In Day
Hopefully things will come through for me for this question to be of use, but my sister needs transportation for for school activities that start the week of the 23rd; my mother wants to drive me down the week before.
Is this possible -- i.e. will you be able to settle before Move-In Day?
We're on a tight budget so I can't afford to stay in a hotel for a few days or anything. We're in fact probably going to sleep in the car on the way down.

If you want to move in early (highly discouraged btw) it's apparently something like $25/night and you have to get it pre-cleared with housing. also i highly doubt they let 1st yrs do this. THOUGH if you do the summer orientation that's the last session you do get to move in early (all the international students do this).
I posted the orientation schedule in the "what's there to do in the summer?" (or something to that effect) thread. Check that out. When I get home, I'll create a seperate thread that gives more info on orientation from the packet they sent me since a lot of people haven't received theirs yet. I think you may be able to move in on the international orientation day (as hazelorb said).
I know someone who moved in early last year, but that's because her roommate had moved in early, which was a result of the girl going to the last orientation....so, maybe try to get the last orientation date, as mentioned above. You could probably contact housing now and see what they say, but they may tell you to contact them at a later date. Your safest bet is to get the last orientation.
