first and foremost, jtm, I am a minority and so your argument that "members of mainstream racial or religious groups" would not apply to me. No one is implying that racism is not an issue; we're saying that there ARE isolated incidents because of a select few however this does not reflect the vast majority. And no one even brought up the Klan; however, some students are going to freak out and now seach to make sure.

Your hostility and condescension are not placing UVA students in a good light.
Our "hostility and condescension" come from a genuine concern that our university will be painted in a light that doesn't represent the true nature of it. We care. That's why we keep posting. And as Globalist said, I just copied/pasted from another thread so we have addressed this issue MANY times. It's the fault of the OP for not looking in the first place.

Why are you so defensive?
When you genuinely care about something, you become passionate when it's attacked. Sorry if that bothers you. But for the students/prospectives, this matters. A lot. If you don't care or wish to give it a rest, don't post.

And as powderpuff said in another thread,

Hay Caramba, it's time for this thread to [...] self-terminate.

Agreed. UVa is our home, and for some, an alma mater. I don't want my home, and future alma mater, to be plagued with untrue rumors. I'd rather clear them up so others feel welcomed enough to come and enjoy the same love I have for UVa. This is one of those few instances that we're going on the defense not because we have to, but we want to.
