Hey guys. I'm trying to decide between UVA and UNC. I'm really interested into going into business and most specifically into ibanking. I like the schools equally and i know the Mcintire School of Commerce is really good for ibanking since it's ranked second in business by business week. I'd have to pay around 20,000 total including loans for UVA, while UNC I got a merit scholarship for a full ride. So i'm just wondering if you guys think it's worth going UVA or UNC.

Both have strong recruiting. McIntire places well, but I think you're confusing cause an effect with respect to its ranking by one particular magazine. Also, at both schools you really don't need to be a business major to get a cool consulting or rainbanking gig. Is the $20,000 figure a yearly amount, or something you've projected over four years?

including the cost of loans, it's going to cost 20,000 per year. well i checked the final destination report at uva and the students in mcintire placed well. at unc i checked the report and they only showed the companies that hired 3 or more students but didnt show the actual number of students that got hired so i'm not really sure how recruiting is there

UNC has a great business school. Go to UNC and fulfill your duty as an honors student. Be a top student there, work every angle, don't slack and you will be a student with a great job angle at graduation and faculty support references behind you. Put a lot of thought into where you work in the summers. Be creative and be a lead student at a world class state institution...UNC has some advantages...it is popular and well liked by the public and you may be underestimating its network potential. The Carolinas have vibrant economies..get out there and network and work in the Carolinas in the summers.
