First year is done, man!

Whoa, done! Last exam today, and my head is swimming. I've had a great year, met wonderful people, and can't wait for the second year experience.
I have some nice summer plans, but still have mixed feelings about leaving CVL tomorrow morning.
I'm leaving before most of my friends which makes it kind of odd and sad. But I think I'd rather be one of the first ones to leave; it'll just be easier on my heart.
For those who just accepted their offers of admissions to UVA>>you made the right decision!!

Dude, try being a second year...I'm half done with college. I've got finals M/T/F...woot for leaving next saturday haha
I'm glad your year went so well. Second year is much different, as you've got the whole college-thing down pretty well, but more freedom, more responsibilities, and more pressures mount on you. Just hang in there You'll be fine!

To incoming first years: be prepared to enjoy UVA, every second. I'm not saying go and join a bunch of clubs and get straight As and blahblah. That's what your parents and first-year-experience people tell you. Instead, just enjoy your time here. Make the best of it, however you wish to. I'm telling you now: they will be the best four years of your life. Every alumni says so. Look forward to it, but not enough for you to take it for granted and let it pass by. Congrads, again, welcome to UVA, and see you in August!

Now...to go enjoy my last Saturday night of Second Year. What a blast

Congratulations! I'm not sure about this, but do you have to apply to at the end of every year if you want to return to it?

Well spoken Powderpuff. It's great to know you enjoyed your first year as much as you did, and are looking forward to your second year with so much excitement and anticipation.

Your comments echo my son's very positive first year experience at UVa.

Enjoy the next three and a half months. You'll be back at the University before you know it. The first day of classes is Tuesday, August 26th, when the lectures, labs and college living start all over again!

Yeah, how did 99% of second years get crummy finals schedules? I know many, many people who are already done (5 classes in three days is rough, I don't care how many of them are papers). The rest have to stay until Friday. Frankly, I don't mind, there's not a whole lot waiting at home for me besides a job and "family responsibilities". I love it here. But now I get to sit around and wait and that will only hurt my Friday test haha.

PS- Just found out this morning I have a B- in electronics. Which means I doubt I'll be taking the final. Woot woot.

Congratulations to all incoming 1st years, all those who have and will finish your 1st year in a week and all 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students.

I am an alum and my D is a first year. It is all true. UVA is amazing. These will be the best 4 years of your life. Enjoy every second. Every time I am back to C'ville, I felt like I were truly home. I told my D last Sept before I headed home after dropping her off in Watson....whatever your expectations are of UVa, they will exceed in your 1st month alone... She told me recently: how true!!

Enjoy your summer. And go Hoos!! I will see some of you on the Grounds Sat. August 30, when we will beat USC at Scott. Book it!:

vistany, all students get into football games for free. You just swipe in with your student ID. If you're not a student, you can still find a ticket most likely, but you'll have to shell out.

Well, I'm back in "my sweet, sunny, south, take me home, where the mockingbird sings me to sleep in the night, oh why was I tempted to roam" (great bluegrass song, sung by Tim and Mollie O'Brien).
Travel safely everyone and enjoy the long summer months!
I'll start my summer job next week so this upcoming week will be particularly lazy! Perfect!

Where are you working, powderpuff? You're from the RTP area, right?

Cool.

Do other sports work that way for students?

Yep, unless they're some sort of post-season tournament (ACC, NCAA, etc).

When we're talking NCAA, please exclude men's basketball.
