For the UVa J.D/M.A. program how long does it take to complete and your J.D.? And what would you be paying tuition for? The Law School or the Regular College. I want to major in Foreign Affairs.

Tuition and Fees During the first year of the program, the student is treated for these purposes as a regularly matriculated student at the School of Law. During the remaining years, the student pays the higher of the tuitions of the two schools, plus the required fees, plus the special fees exacted by both schools. For any semester during which a student is in full-time residence in the Department of English, however, he or she is treated for these purposes as a regular student in that department.

So will I be paying the fees for the law school at 55,000 or the fees for undergraduate at 20,000 since I am majoring in foreign affairs?

I believe when they say department of english they are referring to the graduate level department of english, since the MA is a Master of Arts. So this is all graduate level stuff. You would be getting a Masters of Arts from the graduate level English department and a Juris Doctor from the Law School

It is a graduate program. It takes approx. 3.5-4 years to do full-time (beyond the undergrad level), and that's including possible summer courses.

The first year, I am nearly certain, has to be completed in the law school so you would be paying Law School fees exclusively. For all semesters thereafter, tuition depends on if you are taking mixed courses between the law school and Grad-CLAS, or one school exclusively. When you mix classes, you pay the higher of two tuitions which would be the law school. If you were to take a whole semester in Grad CLAS, it would be the tuition for the graduate college only.
