Hey fellow brown person..don't get your hopes up but you do have a shot. Retaking your SATs would be a good option.
But seriously..keep in mind that as opposed to other score intensive unis..UVa does leave plenty of room to judge you on the context of your experiences/character. I wouldn't fixate on particular details of the applications..rather just do your best in high school and make the most out of the opportunities you have created for yourself. Oh and make sure the teachers/coaches that are writing your recs really have something unique to say about you as a person.
BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY..the essay will tip the scale. I had lower grades, less ECs, lower scores but my essay was the hook(it was about my experiences in the singapore army)
Btw its cool that you volunteer at your temple..even if it is your parents forcing you to..:P

Feel free to add me on facebook if you wanna know more about the application process:

Thanks for the advice, Anup_UVa. I really appreciate it. I understand that it's not going to be a cakewalk, especially as an Out-of-State applicant.
Damn. Singapore Army? that sounds intense.

My name's Varun, btw. I'll add u on facebook for sure.

There's a big difference. If your BME, you're applying to SEAS. If your bio, you apply to CLAS.

The programs are different and the acceptance rates are different.

Anup, I know you mean well, but I wouldn't advise posting your e-mail on this thread. You may get a lot of unwanted mail. If you want to send someone your e-mail, it may be a better idea to send it through a PM.

Try and boost the SATs and make sure you know what you want to apply to.
Best of luck from a fellow Eagle Scout.

Don't post your name or email address, you can be opening up a whole can of trouble for yourself.
