Is UVA an intelligent reach for me?

Hey, I'm an out-of-state student who really wants to go to UVA, but I want to gauge how much of a shot I have (if any). Any input is welcomed.

ACT: 27 ( Eng 29; M 24; Read 32; Sci 24) I'm re-taking in late October.
GPA is 3.61 (weighted)
AP BIO: 4
AP ENG: 3
AP US HIST: 4
SAT IIs: Bio M- 710; US History- 680

My extracurriculars are solid; varsity sports (lettered) debate club, Latin club, National Honor Society, and a few others.

I have no legacies (Grandfather dropped out of UVA to join Army in '42) and no connections to the school. Is UVA an intelligent reach for me, or am I crazy?
Thank You.

3.61 weighted is really low and a 27 is not that high, apply though and good luck!

What's your unweighted GPA? Any outstanding activities or achievements? For out-of-state you definitely need exceptional stats.

Thanks Wahoomb! I think (according to my cousin) that New England schools calculate weighted GPA different than in the South; it has something to do with the NEASC accreditation. So an A in an Honors Class is a 4 (not a 5), an A in an AP class is a 4.25 (not a 6). So a 3.61 comes out to about an A-/B+.

NE91, most schools in Virginia are like that, actually. Not very different - your grade scale is pretty standard. Besides, a 27 is still considered pretty low for OOS.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll apply ayway, but expect at the very best get waitlisted.

Also, I think it was North Carolina that has an odd weight system, but thanks for the clarification powerbomb.

UVa is a high reach for you, but I'd still go for it if you're keen on the school.
