OOS chances?

(I know people hate these but i'd really appreciate it)

I'm thinking of applying to the UVa school of engineering and applied sciences
(Biomed-engineering major -- concentration in nano-medicine and a minor in chem)
Eventually hope to be involved in pediatrics
^_^

Senior Year - Peer Writing Consultant/Tutor

165 of those from Children's National Medical Center
Many of those hours were from Ten Thousand Villages (Non-Profit Retail Store - Helps people in third world countries - fair trade organization)
About 70 hours doing clerical stuff at a Hospital in my state and at the hospital my mom worked at in Brooklyn)

I know i don't have very many science extracurricular, but my classes are so science packed that most of my "free time" science activities are just reading articles.

I've spent 2 summers of my high school in Bangladesh (hence, lack of summer jobs/internships)

It is supposedly more difficult for OOS students to get accepted. While your ECs look great the following candidate is In-State and has a 190 point higher SAT.
Any instate student with a 4.14 GPA and 2220 SAT would probably get in right?
All I can suggest is that you write some terrific essays and apply. You might want to apply to some other schools just in case.....

OOS Female

My D's class and EC were similar, but her stats were better. 2180 SATs, 4.0 unweighted, 4.5 weighted, 7th in class out of about 350 after junior year when she applied. She was waitlisted on April 1. She elevated her class rank from 7 at the edn of junior year to 5th at senior mid year to finally 3rd at graduation, increased her weighted to 4.7, earned some additional honors and awards and wrote to admissions to update them on her improvements. She got an additional recommendation based on her efforts as a senior and the results she got by increasing all of her standings. She was finally admitted on June 8th.

She is a white female from the mid Atlantic with no hooks to UVA.

You need to finish your Senior Year strong and let admissions know about your mid year grades and other things. If you are waitlisted and still interested then you probably need your last semester to be outstanding.
