Question from a NVCC student

If I fail to transfer to UVA the following year, my contingency plan will be to enroll via the GA agreement. On the GAA document, under course requirements, the 'foreign language' description reads "Any foreign language through the 202 level." Does this mean I must complete levels up to the 202 level to fulfill this requirement, or take a class between level 101 and 202? Any help in regards to this question will be greatly appreciated!

I think you have to fulfill all the foreign language requirments up to 202.

You have to actually take 202, sorry. Hey what campus are you on? Because I can recommend a really good Spanish teacher if you're interested.

I am not a UVA student, but i go to NVCC, here's how it works.

According to NVCC policy: If you had three or more years of high school foreign language of the same language (ie: three years of french, three years of spanish, not one french and two spanish), then you are exempt from needing to take the prerequisite courses, which are 101 and 102.

If you have NOT completed three years of same foreign language, then you have two options. Option 1: You can take a placement test to see if you can bypass the 101 and 102 prereqs. Option 2: You have to take 101 and 102 BEFORE taking 201 and 202. I do not believe NVCC will let you take 201 and 202 unless one of these aforementioned requirements are satisfied.

Hence, you must complete 201 and 202 to meet the requirements for UVA's GAA. However, you may need to also take 101 and 102 OR place out of 101 or 102 to make NVCC's requirements.

Consult conselors from both institutions to verify, but i believe these are the policies.

From my understanding of the agreement, if you were able to skip lower levels and just take the 202 level, that would be sufficient.

I will verify with Tranfermer this morning. Have you checked her blog? I bet she has already covered this.
