How long do letters of acceptance for one's major usually take?

I can't really seem to find an answer online or from people... so for UW, in general, for all competitive majors that require applying and admission, what is the general amount of time it takes for an application to be considered and responded to?

For mine (Business) it took about 2 months after the deadline.

^Isn't that rather... late? I know that usually when you apply for a major, you're applying for the next quarter, unless you're applying into Autumn Quarter. However, if it really takes 2 months, then I can't sign up for classes until then, and they might be full @_@

Yeah.. I recently applied for a major for winter, and gee, registration is tomorrow.

The deadline was not so long ago, so I guess they wouldn't be done yet, but there are also a lot less applicants for winter...

I think that they know it and most likely they have some spaces reserved in some classes.
