From what I have seen here in 4 years things seem to be tolerable. GSA doesn't have a huge presence on campus but they hold their own I suppose. They have toned things up a bit int he past year...before that, as in years ago, I wasn't even aware of thier presence. That is to say, unlike some other clubs and organizations they aren't going anywhere. GSA conducts a sidewalk chalking campaign every year for National Coming Out Day, which is usually well received and constructive. This year however we had an issue with another group, who remains unknown, that went on an anti-gay chalking campaign later that night. In addition to altering or destroying some of GSA's work they put up the usual ignorant BS that I'm sure you are familiar with, "God hates fags" and the like. Most people were rightfully unhappy and the school took a rather fair approach, upholding the student's right to speech. They dealt with it in the best way possible, but I don't think anyone was ready to confront such a situation. Students were involved and so I cannot say that we are 100% Gay-Friendly, but to my knowledge no threats of violence, besides those implied by the tired slogans of the Christian right, were or ever have been made. This was the only such incident I am aware of and I am confident that most any Gay student would be able to find a place here.
