You are opening a can of worms here, but here's my take (and I will admit up front I am a devoted Mac user). Today's Macs have Intel processors, so you can install BOTH Mac and PC operating systems on them and switch between the two as needed. The PC machines cannot do the same. Although more expensive than PC's, you will get the best of both worlds if you purchase a Mac. I have a co-worker who is a died-in-the-wool PC user. He now has a Mac and an iPhone (and he's a Trojan alum who graduated from Marshall).

PC's can run Mac's too! Just need to install vmware or something similar. "Obtain the Mac OS" and install it. Voila!

Went to a seminar this week about MACs for us mostly PC users. Get that Intel processor. More expensive than PCs, but can do so much graphic/photo, IChat.
Macs are very popular among music/fine arts majors, and academia in general.

Just to clarify the difference, poster above said that a PC can run Mac software, too, with VMWare. Big difference. VMWare is virtualization software that emulates the OS. Macs can run the PC OS with hardware just like it was on a PC machine. No emulation. This makes running the OS faster and more stable. Get a Mac!

Apple also offers a higher education student discount so you can save a bit of money, even though macs are still pretty expensive. but its worth it in my opinion.

Also for Annenberg students, we were told the Mac is a better choice for that major as well.

Fight On!
