Changing courses after finding out AP score

I registered for Calc II during orientation not knowing my AP BC Calc exam, but I just got the score and realized I place out of it and can take Calc III. Would I change that on ISIS? Or do I needa call someone at UVA? And if so, does anyone know who I should go contact? Thanks!

Oh okay thanks! Sorry one more question! Each calc class comes with a discussion, but do I have to register for that discussion or could I do a different professor's discussion? Because currently taking Calc III 10am instead of Calc II at 10am, the discussion conflicts with the rest of the schedule. Do you know if there is a number I could call to ask?

I'd contact math placement advisor Daria Giffen ( dmg4c @virginia.edu .) She can probably answer whatever you throw at her.

I think you should probably stick w/ that particular professors discussions (even though the discussions are taught by TAs, afaik) since different professors may be covering different topics at different times. Know what I mean?

stick with that profs discussion (plus i don't think isis will let you register for a different profs discussion) -- a lot of the calc classes have quizes and the like during discussion so you need to keep with the same professor. be glad you are placing out of 132, that isn't a fun course at all.

What if the professor's discussion can't fit into my current schedule unless I change almost all my courses? Ahh! What a bad position to be in.

Rose87, you are required to take the discussion section for your particular class, if it doesn't fit into your schedule then unfortunately you're out of luck and will have to find another class.

if you can't fit the course and discussion in somehow, you can always take it another semester. You have 8 semesters, so its not a big deal especially because 231 is offered every semester.

Or re-arrange your schedule which will be easier to do your first semester because many of your courses may be intro level and have multiple times and teachers.

Or the easiest of all - just sign up for a difference 231 class that does fit

Ack, the problem is that there are no times that will fit. Hrm, I'll try contacting my advisor. Thanks for the info!
