question about the Writing Requirement

It is said that you are exempt from the writing requirement if you scored 720 or above on the writing portion of the new SAT.but the McIntire pre-requsites say that writing courses are required to take during the first year.
So should I also take the writing courses though I meet the exemption requirement to get into McIntire?
Thanks in advance.

you don't have to take them if you're exempt. Example--if you have a 5 on AP calc AB exam, you don't have to take calculus 121/131 even though its a prereq.

yeah typically you will find that they will accept your exemption. however, i do suggest that you contact someone from admissions at McIntire just to be sure.
