Half the applicants get what? Only 5-8% of each incoming class are offered spots in the Echols Scholars program.

I got a likely letter, but haven't been notified of anything Echols-related (not that I was expecting anything anyway, I was really surprised to even get a LL). Just wondering though, have all Echols winners/nominees been notified at this point, or do they not find out until the admissions letter?

If I haven't gotten anything about it and don't see anything about it in the letter, should I assume it's not happening?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I've been "out of the loop" for a while.

thanks

Excuse me, I don't mean to sound ignorant or stupid, but what is an Echols scholar?

I was accepted as an Echol this year and I didn't get a likely letter. I was worried at first too, but apparently it all worked out.

It's nice not to have area requirements, and not so nice to have priority registration be restricted somewhat. The program doesn't entirely just stroke your ego... in my opinion.
