Favorite Vandy Haunts

I'd like to buy a gift card for a friend's S who will be a freshman at Vanderbilt in the fall. For current students or Vandy experts...can you give me the name of a food/coffee/hangout near to campus that the kids frequent? Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

So many good places to eat on the campus borders. For reasonable, everyday food, D loves Panera. Pancake Pantry is a popular Nashville tradition located nearby. In fact, it's so popular with lines pouring out the door that I have only recently had my first meal there when visiting earlier this month. I hope it's not my last - yum!

you can also do a vanderbilt bookstore gift card, good for sweatshirts etc. that they will all want to buy. You can get it on the website.

Borders is next to campus. Many, many restaurants are on West End Ave. and 21st Ave./Hillsboro Pike.

Also, try one of the stores at the Mall at Green Hills.

Cafe Coco is a favorite place for Vanderbilt students. Right near campus and open 24/7, it is a great place to hang out, do homework, and study for finals.

Sorry to say Starbucks still seems to be very popular. There is also the Mellow Mushroom or San Antonio Taco Co.
