So will you be able to "reschedule" beginning on July 28 or only "add"?

If you read my post to kelsmomm you'll see that if you were bumped from a course you'll be able to have full access to editing/adding your schedule on the 28th.

there is hope for those of you that did not get the schedule of your choice! my advice is a few things:
the first thursday of classes the waitlist opens at 7 or 8am. Get on OASIS nice and early and waitlist the classes and/or sections that you want. If you get on those waitlists and then SHOW UP to the class you want to be in, more than likely the professor will find a way to get you in the class.

I got bumped from several classes over my 4 yrs at vandy but knowing this trick allowed me to virtually get every class i wanted at mostly the right times i wanted as well.

another tip for the future, even if you only intend on taking, 12-15 hours of classes, every semester, register for 18 credits so you have the best possibility of getting the schedule of your choice and you have some options in case you get bumped or classes suck, etc.

you go to oasis and use command prompt SHOW and then the course number. The exact same way you add/drop courses from Oasis except with SHOW instead of ADD

Exactly. Either will get you to see either the exact course you want to see or all courses in a discipline that is open for the respective semester.

Oasis is so obnoxious if you don't know the commands. If you go to the vandy website and search for Oasis info there is a list somewhere of the different commands and what each will do for you!

why is the system so Bohemian. can't they add a slightly more intuitive UI? I'm only using the webbased java version. Is the downloaded version any better?

the downloaded version is quicker but it is essentially the same interface. but if you plan on using oasis during high volume times such as during drop/add the first week of classes, you will want to download it because it will not let you load the web-based one when there is too much traffic.
