| Chances for CAS and for peabody?
-Competitive public high school in GA
-I have a 94.5 average
-10 honors classes and by the time I graduate I will have 9 APs
-class rank: 60/505
- SAT: 2150 (670 CR 770 Math 710 W)
- SAT IIs: 720 US History, 670 Math 1, 630 Spanish
ECs:
-1 month community service summer program (about 120 hours) after 10th grade
- Jr. Civitan club (secretary 11th grade, president, 12th grade, member every year)
- class council- every year
-BBYO( jewish youth organization)- every year.
-treasurer of Peers Against Cancer-9th and 10th
-NHS-11th and 12th
-i've been involved in other clubs, but those are the main ones
-had a job at AE this year & will work there next year
-National Merit Letter of Commendation
-AP Scholar with honor |

| yeah i mean if you're going to have jewish activities listed on your application, you might as well put white down as well. i don't know if you've seen any of the recent attention to this at vandy, but i guess in the past few years the overall jewish population has increased substantially and that's been part of the admission's office's initiatives, so id say that'd only help your chances.
i think you have a decent chance, better chance @ peabody, but be careful to not just be looking for an "in" by applying to peabody. if you are admitted to peabody you have to stay there for a year before you can legally transfer over to another school (likewise to intratransfer between any of the schools at vu) but i'm just saying if you apply to peabody, you have to apply for a particular major, which im guessing you'd be HOD if you're also looking @ A&S. HOD is really popular so if you do apply there, just make sure you reveal somewhere on your application why that might be a good fit for you.

| yeah i was interested in the HOD major at peabody. I think it seems like a really interesting major. But I was worried that it would look like i might only be using it as an "in". I know the admissions people don't like to see people applying to peabody in order to have better chances. There are some majors I would like in arts & sciences. I would hate to apply to peabody and then decide I would rather do something @ A&S (or vice versa) and then not be able to transfer. How easy is it to transfer schools at vanderbilt? Waiting a year wouldn't bother me too much since the 1st year is mostly core curriculum stuff. I will apply to whichever school I decide on because it interests me more, not in order to have better chances of admission. | |

| Improve class rank and you might have a shot. Not in at Peabody. Maybe in CAS. | |

| the core classes for first year in CAS and Peabody are vastly different. I was originally undecided and admitted into A&S, and I later transferred over to Peabody at the end of freshman year. I've always been under the belief that it is much easier to transfer from A&S to Peabody, rather than vice versa, so if you're unsure id say your best bet is to go undecided and try some classes out.

| ok yeah I think i'll apply to CAS then, I didn't realize the core classes were different. when you transferred from A&S to peabody were there a lot of extra classes you had to take? | |

| noo.. i should have explained, the core classes are a lot more liberal and open for peabody than for a&s. so if you go from undecided to hod, most of your classes that you already took in A&S will count towards something.. that being said, make sure you take your traditional classes, things like a science (you need 1 lab for peabody i think), a math class, foreign language, some type of either poli sci/communications/econ, etc. econ 100 is a good class totake as a freshman if ur undecided and possibly want hod because it is required for hod and it counts for core.
the problem if u do peabody then want to go back to A&S is that A&S is very strict on which classes count for what requirements. | |
