The final countdown!

Sorry, I felt compelled to create a thread for this, and to make a completely horrible and cheesy title to go along with it. (I love 80s synth-pop, so I can't help it)

Letters get mailed out April 1st, so they should arrive a few days after that.

So we officially have a little less than 10 weeks of waiting. It's already been 3 weeks and it has felt like months already.

I'm going to have an ulcer before the decision comes. It's so frustrating when your stats fall in the 40-50 percentile.

^ I think she is referring to the stats for accepted students and not enrolled.

Vanderbilt typically mails RD decisions a few days prior to April 1.

Oh yes, I remember last year reading that mailing day was March 28th, or around that time. Thanks for reminding me. =]

Hilsa-You've made it very clear that Vandy is, by far, your first choice. Just curious, what is your second, third, etc. choice?

Well, my safety is Florida State University (since I live in Florida). Great film and chemistry program there, which are the two fields in which I want to major (and European history as well).

Wake Forest is the lesser sibling of Vanderbilt. Same beautiful grass/trees, older buildings, and similar ambiance, except WF is easier to get into (eww I ended a sentence with a preposition).

Emory is another great southern school. It's more contemporary and modern compared to Vandy (I definitely like Vandy's old feel better) but still pretty groovy. It has a diverse bunch of kids and is more low-key. Oh, and "Into the Wild." That's all I have to say about that.

I applied to GW just because I like DC, and it's not as pretentious as Georgetown. But it's probably my last choice, seeing as it's chemistry program is only adequate.

That's it. I applied to only 5 schools. I'm not an Ivy-League hopeful since I'm not a fan of elitism. I like the South because it's warm and I've grown up in the lifestyle all my life. Of course, some of the ideologies I definitely don't agree with, but I've already gone into that.

I agree about Wake - it also reminded me of a mini-Vandy. My S also applied there. Interesting about GW - so different from Vandy! We have a nephew there now who just loves it but he really loves the urban-campus thing. My S actually applied to Georgetown but it wouldn't have been a top choice because we live in DC (suburbs) so he really wanted to try something new. Interesting you aplplied to 5 schools - I don't think many kids these days can say that! I know some that applied to 15 - crazy!

Good luck and again, Im sure you will end up in Nashville.

4 more weeks!

Though, I'm considerably a lot less stressed about decision time now. I don't feel my chances have increased, it's just the fact that I realized sometime recently that it's not worth it to be so obsessed only to have your heart be broken when there are other schools out there for me (though, Vandy is still my first choice). And, the latest Vandy blog entry also helped to put things in perspective.

Anyone else feeling this? Or are you guys still going crazy?
