I think that I want to apply to Vassar early, but I wanted to see if you guys think I can get in?

I'm a Jewish male from a small private school in Boston.
GPA: 3.7
ACT score: 31
-I also took the highest courses my school offered.
Extra-curriculars, etc.:
-Editor-in-chief of literary Magazine
-Co-founder and editor-in-chief of school's first student run newspaper.
-Drama officer (meaning one of 3 student leaders in the drama department)
- Varsity tennis all four years including two awards (Coaches Award, and most improved)
- four years involved in, and Vice President of, the Mock Trial team.
- English Department award Junior year (one of the highest awards my school gives out)
Outside of school:
- I teach kindergarten at my temple.
I am also quite involved in social action (volunteering etc.) at my temple, and attend classes once a week there.
- I am head of the Massachusetts branch for a grassroots campaign organization supporting Barack Obama.
I'd say you've got a great chance. You're a strong applicant and the fact that you're male and applying ED furthers your chances. Frankly, I'd be a bit surprised if you didn't get in...
Of course Vassar is competitive but ED and being male definitely helps. Your GPA is a little low. Try to get it up this term. Do you know your class rank--is it top 10 or 20 percent? That matters. How good are your references? Do you have any connections. Not a shoe in but worth a try. Good luck. Wesleyan is hard too.

Be careful about the advice you give and receive on the discussion board. Admission is a vague and subjective process. D applied last year with 3.9 unweighted, 5 APs, 2250 SAT, lots of EC's, academic awards, 8 varsity letters, terrific writer and great recs. WAITLISTED (and no one was taken off the wait list last year.) You just can't tell. ED should help and being male won't hurt either.
Wiser's comment is well said. Admissions these days is a crapshoot. Just to give you an example, two seniors from my school last year applied to Cornell. One was a 4.0, high SAT scoring, drama obssessed valedictorian and was REJECTED. Another, a 3.3 student, decent SAT scores, but very involved with ECs such as boy scouts and working on his family's ranch and the like was accepted. Now this could be in part to his interest in the hotel mgmt program at Cornell, but still..
It is passion that colleges seek most in applicants. Having high grades isnt enough. It's about balance.

I am an international applicant with GPA 5.0, toughest programme offered in my high school, all As and scored the highest in 3 individual subject nationwide in my matriculation exams as well as stood first among all females. All As in Grade 11 and 12, marks between 95% and 99%
I have taken the SAT once and scored 2160 - am going to take it again this October. My ECAs are:
- Classical music (few regional awards won) - 5 years
- Oil Painting - 4 years
- volunteer work - almost two years for 4 to 5 hours per week
- Vice-president of the Debating team (few competitions won)
- Excellent recommendations
- Great essays
- Chief Editor of high school Newsletter
- Working as a Maths tutor in a local training institution (for advanced level maths) since June 2007
I plan to apply to Vassar ED. What are my chances?

SATII: 730 Math II, 690 US his, 720 Math I (took in 9th grade)

Extra curricular- President of amnesty international Peer tutor, basketball, baseball. Tour guide.
Connections- Mother is on the board, sister went there too. Also know another person on the board.
Your transcript is really nothing above average, if that. Your academics are clearly unqualified, with your only semi-redeeming quality being your E.C. Your accolades appear to be exaggerated, which won't go well over with admissions.
I am DYING to go to Vassar and I'm planning to apply ED. Do I have a shot?
