| Vassar Supplement Responses
On the Vassar Supplement, they ask "How did you hear of Vassar, and what do you like about Vassar?" I talked about the curriculum, sitting in on one of their classes, and reading a book about the school written by a current student.
I was just wondering what other people said about why the like the school.

I talked about a different few things, but mostly Vassar's uniqueness, and how no matter how hard I looked I couldn't find a school as perfect for me.

I feel the same way as both of you. Everything just seemed to fall into place, and so I tried to give reasons as to why. I had gotten advice from one of my parents' coworkers, who went to Vassar and told me what "why I like Vassar" stereotypes to avoid.
Are either of you applying Early Desicion?

How long are your responses supposed to be?
In the box, 500 characters fit, which is only about a 100 words, unless you upload your own document.

I uploaded my own document, but I tried to keep it as short as possible. I had one paragraph on how I heard of it (which is pretty much just for marketing purposes, telling them where to focus their advertising money on for upcoming years), and one for each of my three reasons why I wanted to go. In total, about 275 words.

I've got about 500 words or so, but I didn't actually count.
And haha, I posted the same question to you somewhere else. Yes, I'm applying early decision ... 5 weeks until we find out! |

SAME HERE, haha. The entire week is marked "VASSAR!!!". My family was annoyed, but they're used to this. I heard of this school when a director of mine (who used to teach theatre at Vassar, and she's absolutely amazing) reccomended it back in seventh grade. I've talked of no other school since.

That's so cool haha. It's all I ever talk about too. I bet even the people at the counseling office are sick of seeing my face and me going, "Did you send [insert Vassar application component here] yet???"

My guidance counselor sees me more often than my regular teachers now. I talk about Vassar to everyone. I even sent a letter to Jonathan Togo, a Vassar alumnus who's currently a star on primetime TV. We're from the same area, and he completed my goal of going to Vassar and majoring in theatre, and so instead of sending fanmail like everyone else, I asked him what Vassar is like (and we're actually friends now, he helped me with my college essay and everything).
And Matt, let me just say that it makes me glad that we're essentially the same person. When we both get into Vassar (yes, I did say when. I'm positive, it's going to happen), I hope we're best friends. |

I like the way you think, Emily. We're BFFs with the counselors and plan on majoring in theatre at Vassar. Got a Facebook? If you do, we can exchange FBs via private messages.

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who practically lives in my guidance counselor's office and has an entire week marked with "VASSAR DECISION, AHH!" haha
I actually just got home from the open house at Vassar!
p.s... Sweatshirts are 25% off today for Veteran's Day! haha
